ABOUT THIS BOOK
ABOUT THIS BOOK
For nearly four centuries this Chronicle has lain in manuscript; it recently came into the possession of Harvard University as part of the Palha collection. It gives a daily record of the facts of the most important event, the second siege of Diu, in the administration of Joao de Castro, Governor and ultimately Viceroy in the Portuguese dominions in India toward the middle of the sixteenth century. The text is entirely in Portuguese.
