AUTHOR BIOGRAPHYEmma Lou Thornbrough (1913–1994), a native of Indianapolis, received a master's degree from Butler University in 1936 and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1946. She taught history at Butler University from 1946 until 1983. She researched and published works on Indiana history with a focus on African-Americans.
