Reginald Gibbons is professor of English at Northwestern University and editor TriQuarterly magazine. He is the author of three books of poetry, Roofs Voices Roads, The Ruined Motel, and Saints. He is also editor of The Poet's Work and co-editor of From South Africa, both published by the University of Chicago Press. "From a Paper Boat," the centerpiece of Maybe It Was So, won the 1991 John Masefield Memorial Award of the Poetry Society of America.
