John Lyman Bishop has included English versions of four previously untranslated representative San-yen stories: a detective story, an erotic story, an exemplary tale, and a pseudo-historical heroic story. The Latin, German, French, and English translations of San-yen stories are listed in the appendix. Although this book will be of primary interest to specialists, the stories make highly entertaining reading.
