ABOUT THIS BOOKThis study traces the development of publication laws and regulations, describes the many censorship cases, and discusses the various aspects of government control of the press in China. The period covered extends from 1900, when China was clamoring for a constitutional government, to 1949, when the People’s Republic of China was established. Special emphasis is placed on the suppression of so-called dangerous publications during the years when China was under the rule of the Kuomintang.
